A Hall of Fame is something that recognizes people who have distinguished themselves in their field. This could also include activities, talents or actions for our country. There are Halls of Fame for sports, for music, for politicians and also for automobile designers. In Lincoln County, there are many people who may deserve recognition. Gary Allan Roth is a person from Lincoln County who deserves to be inducted into the Lincoln County Hall of Fame. Gary Allan Roth has provided exceptional service to Lincoln County and our great country. Gary enlisted in the army at the age of eighteen. He joined because he had been laid off from a construction job and because an Army recruiter came knocking at his door. He lived with his mother. Then on March 24, 1998, he enlisted in the American army. Only one in a hundred Americans will enlist in the U.S. military. He took the final call to arms. When Gary was sent to basic training, he learned to be disciplined, physically fit, and to respect the Army's seven core values. During the interview, Gary outlined and described the Army's core values. The core values are expressed in an acronym, LDRSHIP. He described what each letter of the acronym was and what it meant. It represents loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. Gary said the Army's core values were just the foundation for everything he learned. After learning what the Army's seven core values are, he put that education into his life. He said being in the military taught him how to be a man. He also explained that few people know how to be a man. By being in the military, he learned to become a better and reliable person. Ar...... middle of paper ...... tax-paying citizen in this county. So if a person pays taxes, they are a good citizen and contributing to Lincoln County. Another contribution Gary makes to the Lincoln County community is that he serves as president of the homeowners association. The Homeowners Association is a neighborhood association within a Lincoln County subdivision known as Ashley Estates. The HomeOwners Association is responsible for keeping Ashley's properties safe and making it a better place for the day after tomorrow. One of the important things that Gary did with the Ashley Estates Homeowners Association was he established a speed limit in the neighborhood. This helps ensure the safety of children playing on the road, as well as other passers-by, who may be out for a walk or exercise. Speed bumps have also been installed on the roads to prevent cars from speeding..
