Identity theft could stalk someone, steal their information and get away with it. (Debatin 86) In an article "Journal of Computer-mediated Communication" Dr. Bernhard Debarin claims that a clever data thief can exploit user information on Facebook with relative ease. If a person completely provides all their confidential information without hesitation, they risk being punished for it. Be prepared to face the consequences, because any context or information posted on Facebook will remain there forever and exposed to the public. For example, one can steal other people's information by becoming friends with them or joining a group that shares the same interest or idea. In addition, publishing a number, address, time and date of birth can lead to unintended consequences, since third parties, hackers and stalkers will always find a way to abuse users' personal data.
