    Social Roles in SocietySocial psychology, as defined by Microsoft Bookshelf, is the branch of human psychology that deals with the behavior of groups and the influence of social factors on 'individual. Social roles are one of several subcategories of social psychology. I believe that social roles refer to how we, as individuals, act in certain situations; such as family life, educational and economic situation, peer groups, etc. Haney, Banks & Zimbardo's prison simulation is just one of large studies in this area. In this study we will see how people play roles in life and in simulated life situations. Social roles are not fictional, they are in fact a very real phenomenon that many people face every day, whether with themselves or with other individuals. The prison simulation, studied by Haney, Banks and Zimbardo, is quite impressive in how very large the study is actually. Due to the lack of length of this article, the summary of this study will be brief. The experiment consisted of 24 male volunteers divided into two groups: guards and inmates. Both groups were given uniforms to encourage their role in the prison scenario. The subjects immediately began thinking about how they thought they should act.
