Essay / Human activity causes climate change - 978
A US vice president, Al Gore, said that while the reason behind the extinction of dinosaurs more than 65 million years ago was due to a giant asteroid, the species that disappear every minute of our lives are not only due to certain devastation, but they are human (Al Gore, 2006, Internet). We are destroying our world indirectly, which means we are not just killing these entire animals, but what caused their extinction is due to "climate change" which is a result of natural causes and human activities. We used to look at how natural causes contributed to climate change, but humans now play an even bigger role in climate change. Climate can be defined as the average weather affected by slow-moving elements such as oceans, precipitation and clouds (Slaght, 2009, p34-41). Among the two main causes of climatic alterations, the natural cause is one. It refers to phenomena such as forest fires, volcanic eruptions which cause tons of pollutants in our atmosphere, but also maintain the balance of the world. For example, disasters such as volcanic eruptions release at least 130 million tons of pollutants per year. Additionally, studies of recent volcanic eruptions such as those of El Chichon, Mexico (1982) and Mount Pinatubo, Philippines (1991) have shown that liquid sulfuric acid drops from these volcanoes also subsidize the depletion of our ozone layer (Volcanic gases and their effects, Internet). On the other hand, even if humans did not exist on earth, carbon dioxide emissions would still occur. More than 95% of global emissions came from what we call the natural CO2 (carbon dioxide) cycle, such as the decomposition of organic matter, but whatever happens during the earth's natural CO2 cycle, it is already present in the... ... middle of paper ...... with a few solutions and a few people, but this is a global problem that each of us must work together to solve. The well-being of the world is in our hands and if we continue to take it for granted, as we do every day, what is there for us may not be there for our children in the future.
