Essay / Million Dollar Baby - 850
Million Dollar BabyMillion Dollar Baby, Clint Eastwood's latest film as director has received more and more positive reviews recently and is even better than Mystic River. At first glance, the film seems like another boxing movie cliché. However, Eastwood managed to create a captivating and moving story about the complex world of human relationships, the price of success and achieving dreams. The film explores many different topics. Million Dollar Baby is about friendship and respect. It's about love and dreams. The main theme of the film is the boxing career of Maggie Fitzgerald (played by Hilary Swank) - a 30-year-old waitress who lives alone and barely survives. However, she is firmly determined to become a professional boxer and that is why she seeks the help of Frankie Dunn (played by Clint Eastwood), a boxing trainer and gym owner. Frankie initially does not want to train her because she is a woman and too old to have a chance at significant achievements in professional boxing. However, Frankie's friend and associate, Eddie Dupris (played by Morgan Freeman), truly believes in Maggie and lets her work out in a corner of the gym. Over time, Maggie's persistence and Eddie's insistence eventually change Frankie's mind. This is when the real story begins. Maggie's determination and strong will to achieve her dream, combined with Frankie's excellent training skills, launch them both into the orbit of professional boxing where they gloriously win battle after battle. Although the story seems like a big cliché, in truth the world of Million Dollar Baby involves much more than boxing and success. Clint Eastwood deals with topics such as love, middle of paper... she is happy. In general, all the actors in the film make the audience feel what they feel, which is essential for the film because the plot is deeply emotional. As critic Sean O'Connell notes in his column at Filmcritic.com, Million Dollar Baby was intended to be "a half-baked, rushed awards-season throwaway from a respected filmmaker still basking in the glow of his latest, well-received play ". Fortunately, the film turned out to be one of the best films of the year. Once again, Clint Eastwood surprises us all with his work as a director. It gives the audience the opportunity to look at life from a different perspective. The film makes us reflect on what we have accomplished in life and Maggie shows us that it is never too late to make a dream come true. After all, this is what we are born and live for: to make our dreams come true.
