It is one of the largest countries in the world with an area of 17,000,000 square kilometers and a population of 143 million. The country is well endowed with natural resources such as minerals, forest cover and water resources. Russia's strength and might was gained when it joined the Soviet Union where it became a superpower. The country is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council; it is also a member of the Group of 20 (G20), the Group of 8 (G8) and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. This article will critically examine Russian national purpose and ideology, national power and international relations, and foreign policy. The document will also outline Russia's national security commitments and relations with the United States. First question. Russia's National GoalRussia wants to increase its economic growth, protect the security of its population, and safeguard vital markets for its products. The country has successfully used technology to expand its military influence to protect its people and increase its power and influence in the international market. However, the Russian economy is still struggling and the priority is to strengthen economic expansion. The national objective is therefore shaped by economic and security interests. To defend its national interest, Russia has joined forces with other wealthy countries to influence global politics and international policymaking processes.
