The progressives I chose to interview are the PAWS organization. PAWS is an organization that shelters free-roaming animals in Kuwait. The most common animals rescued in Kuwait are cats and dogs. Their rescues were not easy, physically and mentally. Many of their rescues involved very brutal torture of animals or rescuing dogs from dog fighting rings. One of the rescues was where a dog was tied to a post and burned alive; the kids who were doing it were just doing it for fun. After the rescue, the president explained to me that they were suffering from a nervous breakdown and would not be able to return to their shelter for 6 months. The problem that arises from this situation is that the general Kuwaiti public needed to be informed about animal rights because what is happening would be considered genocide if it was committed against humans.
