When a person makes a bad choice, they may continue to make bad choices. Many people around a person can have an effect on the way they act and do things. If a person makes poor choices, this can be easily corrected from the start. Sometimes it may be too late. If family and friends help a child, they can provide a strong base of support, helping them become a stronger, more stable person in the big world. Therefore, many factors come into play in the process of shaping a child's mind and lifestyle. Sometimes it could be parents, siblings, friends or their socio-economic status. Most of these factors cannot be chosen. You simply don't choose your parents. You can choose to surround yourself with good friends or bad influences. Sometimes you can choose where you would like to live, the type or size of the house.
