Home vegetable gardening is practiced for various reasons by a number of people. One of the reasons why people grow vegetable gardens is due to the poor eating habits of the country. Another reason is the horrible state of the economy that the country is currently experiencing. People have had to adapt to a different lifestyle by growing gardens, which contributes to both unhealthy eating habits and a failing economy. Growing their own garden also allows people to save money on their grocery bills. Additionally, people grow gardens as a means of exercise and for the simple reason of harvesting tasty produce which can in turn be eaten fresh from the garden and can be canned or frozen for use during the winter months .
