Joy appeared in the world of Kate and Arthur Keller on June 27, 1880, when Helen Keller was born. He was a healthy baby like any other! She started talking around six months old and walking around one year old. She could say all kinds of things, from mom and dad to the dog and the cow. The myth that Keller was born deaf and blind is false. Helene contracted an unknown illness described by doctors as congestion of the stomach and brain, which could have been scarlet fever or meningitis. This disease left Helen without the ability to see or hear, she was only 19 months old. No one in the Helens family had ever dealt with this kind of illness, so growing up wasn't very easy. Another widely held myth is that Helen was unable to communicate with her family until she was seven years old. This is a myth, because by the age of seven, Helen and her partner, Martha Washington, had developed more than 60 ways of communicating with each other. Helen ended up going to Radcliffe College. Helen didn't go to an honors college, she went to a very advanced college. Helen went to college for four years and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the age of 24. At the time, Helen Keller was the first deaf and blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Helen Keller wrote her first book. Helen Keller lived to the age of 84 and died on the first of June in the year 1968. She lived a very successful life and inspired many people with her great achievements.
