Coexistence between men and women is not impossible nor always difficult. However, problems arise when there is an automatic expectation or assumption about what the opposite sex will think or feel in a given situation. Accepting each other without trying to change each other to suit our personal needs is by far the easiest way to establish a harmonious relationship. The challenge we face today is to accept and recognize the differences between men and women; and if possible, find the humor in these differences. I have 35 years of experience dealing with gender differences and believe me, there are many. By sharing my experiences, perhaps you will find some wisdom and better understanding of this complicated situation and regain the humor and harmony that I have achieved. The gender differences we often see are not caused by men and women living in different realities, but the difficulties arise from a lack of understanding and mutual experiences shared by each gender. Despite many efforts to fully understand the differences between male and female gender, there is no concrete answer. Accepting each other without trying to change the other and building a true friendship based on mutual respect is by far the simplest way to establish a harmonious relationship. When the inevitable happens and you find yourself at odds, it's imperative to recognize that women are much more fluid in expressing their emotions. Women are particularly recognized for their use of verbal communication. In my experience, I find that women are a species that can go from 80 words per minute (wpm) to 270 words per minute in less than 30 seconds. Differences between the male and female sexes are constantly evolving and are influenced by biological factors, cultural expectations, cognitive abilities, and hormonal differences, to name a few. Although studies and research on gender differences in emotions will most likely persist, disagreements about the exact cause will likely persist as well. Perhaps Robert Briffcult's views on men and women have more validity than we initially recognized. although his observation may have been accurate, it is certainly not self-contained.
