“This license is required to act as a pilot-in-command of an airliner and reflects your skills and knowledge as a pilot. The Airline Pilot License (ATP) is the pinnacle of the pilot licensing structure. (“Airline pilot license.”). It's basically the same as going to school for years to get a doctorate. Both of my parents flew airplanes during their lives. My father makes a living from flying and my mother took the necessary courses to obtain an air transport license. It is a long and arduous process; it takes a lot of time and preparation to get one, as well as long flight hours, testing, and knowledge of the plane's tools. In order to obtain an ATP, you must first meet the minimum requirements. You must attend a flight school to take and prepare for the aeronautical and practical tests ("Entry Requirements" p. LA/SA-I, Virgin Islands-1). North Carolina has many flight training schools. The largest of these is called, oddly enough, ATP in Raleigh and Charlotte NC ("North Carolina Flight Schools"). The ATP charges base fees ranging from $44,995 to over $60,990. There is also an age limit of twenty-three years to participate in the program (“Airline Pilot License”). There are two programs one can apply to at the ATP as well as two subprograms within them. The two main programs are “Private and 85 hours” and “From zero hours”. Private at 85 hours allows a private pilot to become a professional pilot who flies multi-engine aircraft and is the standard for pilots. The private 85 hour program is the "90 Day Fast Track" which costs $44,995 and allows one to quickly complete the program, the other program is the "Salt... middle of paper ... lays out the rules and regulations for staying current in the world of avionics.
