  • Essay / Analysis of Mahatma Gandhi - 908

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to live forever” (Mahatma Gandhi). This quote is just one example of Gandhi's passion for life and for sharing the message of peace across India and the world. He showed the world that hard work can have a lasting impact on people's lives. Gandhi is therefore famous throughout the world for his activism for peace; in a way, he will live forever because of all the valuable lessons we learned from him. Gandhi did not do very well in school; he wasn't naturally intelligent like some other kids and he had to work hard to get the grades he needed. Gandhi once said: “All human beings do not think and feel the same; they therefore cannot escape the confrontation with differences.” Part of the reason Gandhi was so successful was that things didn't come as easily to him as they did to other children; it made him work harder for what he wanted, which led him to accomplish more things in life. He believed the world would be a better place if schools taught more common sense and work skills. He believed that schools care too much about test scores rather than what children are becoming as people. Gandhi once said, “A character cannot be built with mortar and stone. It cannot be built by hands other than yours. The principal and the teacher cannot give you your character from the pages of a book, the character comes from their very lives and, in reality, it must come from yourselves.” He was inspired by different authors. His keen inspiration came from an author named Ruskin; others called him the “English thinker.” Ruskin's books taught Gandhi the value of hard work, and this later became...... middle of paper...... ; Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King. Without Gandhi's hard work and convictions, there could have been a third, fourth or fifth world war. Gandhi was assassinated shortly after the end of World War II, and his last words were "oh my God." Many people believed that his death would cause the next civil war, which Gandhi probably thought just before he died. But Gandhi's people remembered his wisdom and remembered what Gandhi would have wanted. Gandhi will always be remembered for bringing peace to this world. He survived by showing that if you work and pursue your goals hard enough, you will get what you want out of life. He showed us that in the end, all our hard work will be worth it. He provided us with a moral by which to live to become a “great soul ».”.
