Essay / Poverty and Poverty in Mexico - 676
Poverty is endemic in Mexico. As the country rapidly urbanizes, large corporations are taking over many sources of income for the average citizen, leaving them without a way to support their families. Rural farmers (called Campesinos) are hit hardest by this method of industrialization, as companies create large farms and put them out of business. (world knower) Masses of penniless Campesinos migrate to the city in search of better opportunities. The cities do not have the resources to support the large numbers of peasants and their families who flock to them, and the workers find themselves worse off than the one they left. These policies made it easier to purchase and own land. (uleth) Many businesses and wealthy landowners took advantage of the new policies and quickly purchased much of the rural land. Now competing with large agricultural companies, small farmers were no longer able to support themselves. Many...... middle of paper ......successful starting a business. This led many Mexicans to leave the country in search of better business opportunities, which worsened the situation by causing a lack of motivated and skilled workers in Mexico. Mexico has been looking for investment opportunities, but all foreign investors are afraid of Mexico because of its corrupt government and rampant crime. (world knower) As Mexico rapidly urbanizes, many of its citizens are very negatively affected. The lives of many rural farmers are uprooted due to faulty policies and poorly designed laws. Monopolistic industries prevent these poor workers from getting back on their feet and force them to live in inhumane conditions. Mexico will continue to be in a perpetual state of disparity until corporations are able to abandon their greed for the good of the country..
