  • Essay / Lasting Effects of the Holocaust - 1179

The Holocaust not only affected the regions where it took place, it also affected the entire world. Although Jews were the primary victims of the Holocaust, it also left lasting effects on other groups of people. Departed Nazis and Jews still feel the consequences of one of the most horrific genocides the world has ever known. The cries of the victims of the concentration camps still resonate around the world today and it is not easy to ignore them. Although the Holocaust took place during World War II, its effects on the world are still significant today. The Holocaust was a very impressionable time. Not only did it attract media attention at that time, but films, books, websites, and other forms of media still remember the Holocaust. In Richard Brietman's article, "Last Effects of the Holocaust," he reviews two books and a film that were created to reflect the Holocaust (BREITMAN 11). He notes that both books are very realistic and give facts and historical references to show the evils that were occurring in the concentration camps during the Holocaust. This shows that the atrocities committed during the Holocaust have not been forgotten. Through historical writings and records, the harshness and evil that created the Holocaust will endure throughout the centuries, so that they will never happen again (BREITMAN 14). Because the Holocaust attracted so much media attention, researchers want to get stories. about the Holocaust from people who actually experienced it. There aren't many people who survived the Holocaust today, so there is a website to find children who survived that horrible time by identifying themselves by finding the middle of a paper. ..... eat it" (Santayana).
