Recovering from the RecessionThe three trends are:• Teacher layoffs• Fewer summer schools• Fewer school counselorsTeacher layoffsFiring teachers is a trend that has been around for decades, but in recent years this trend has increased remarkably. Since then, this has caused significant stress to several stakeholders such as administrators, teachers, students and parents in particular. This is why I believe firing teachers is important when school finances are at risk. If such action is not taken, the most likely action will be to close the school as there will be no money to pay the teachers. Moreover, for the daily survival of the school. Even though schools are not a for-profit entity, it is important to note that ultimately they do not owe more than they earn. The layoffs will allow schools to operate in a less stressful environment and will not allow this deficiency to pass on to students. It's heartbreaking to have to take such an action, but over time, it's the best thing for the institution. In some cases, some schools may rehire a few teachers, which rarely happens and if they do, a significant number of teachers are not rehired. Therefore, when a school is considering laying off teachers, I think it is always important to ensure that the most effective teachers remain on staff. This is crucial to continued student achievement, as high teacher turnover can and will affect student achievement in the future. It's important to have counselors in schools, they are who help by giving students advice on how to manage their emotions, conflicts and personal problems. They also help guide students toward a career path and help them navigate the different circumstances they may face at school. Through counseling, they will be better able to develop problem-solving skills that will help them deal with life's problems. Students are encouraged to live peacefully with their peers and this bridges the gap between home and school. Advisors are usually able to give students confidence and, in turn, confidence in advisors. Sometimes there are questions they would feel more comfortable asking a counselor than their parents..
