  • Essay / An analysis of the ending of Rocking Horse Winner

Some texts contain very interesting elements. Sometimes this interesting piece is at the beginning of a story, it can also be in the middle of the story and for those with suspense towards the end. When the most important phenomenon appears at the end, it really gives a sense of suspense because just about everything has the possibility of appearing in the story. Therefore, all the events leading up to the ending made sense without the reader even knowing the actual meaning or significance of that particular event. In the end, everything becomes much more obvious to the reader. Some stories like Rocking Horse Winner DH Lawrence don't seem to matter much to the reader because all the events seem to become quite repetitive, but in the end the reader is presented with a curve ball. Also in A Shocking Accident by Graham Greene there is something quite unusual and very shocking since the title suggests a text in which the boy's wife does not laugh at the way his father died. Now, this may not seem like a big deal, but if the reader of this essay were reading this story, it would make more sense to understand why the ending is such an interesting moment in reading. Of course, both of these texts had very surprising endings and weren't entirely predictable. Although both of these stories had interesting endings, the ending of DH Lawrence's Rocking Horse Winner was more shocking. For starters, the first reason it was so shocking is because he seemed so lucky at the end of the story. The young boy was so absorbed in his own luck that it became the only important part of his life due to certain things he experienced as a young child. For example, on page 1252 it says: "Daffodil arrived first, Lancelot second, Mirza third...... middle of paper...... so that was an interesting thing to read as he essentially died from riding his horse too hard, which is difficult to comprehend in my mind knowing that there is a deeper meaning to the cause of the boy's death. Ultimately, this text has indeed. a very interesting and twisted ending almost always leaving the reader engaged in the already finished story and leaving them scratching their heads wondering what really just happened in this story and then thinking back to the story to find clues. information that could help solve the puzzle Again, the boy's greedy drinking ultimately led to his tragic death The mother herself was responsible for shoving all this nonsense into a young man's head. finally that he might die from riding too hard with a deeper meaning behind it all, a dark meaning.
