Thesis StatementIn the historical cycle of each civilization, different periods of rule of law and order, stability of a central controlling authority arise. The intermediate periods are characterized by some dark spots. European history defining the Middle Ages (sometimes called The Dark Ages) features such examples of unrest, wars, and tribes fighting among themselves for supremacy over others and to establish dominance. Such a situation has provided fertile ground for bandits and marauders to form their large gangs and cause large-scale disruptions in the lives of peaceful people. The aim of this thesis is to go into the background study and “explore the reasons for the inevitability of bandits”. and the marauders of the Early Middle Ages.”IntroductionBanditryThroughout the Early Middle Ages, particularly from the 10th to the 13th centuries, successful travelers and traders as well as the general public and farmers faced the fear of banditry. The general population, rulers and governments knew how to deal with beggars and firewood thieves. However, they were afraid of bands of bandits, vagabonds and gypsies in groups of unpredictable size, both of which were dangerous. They refused to obey the state monopoly on bearing arms and they also disobeyed God. Geographically, they operated across large areas of Europe. The main areas of predation were the Dalmatian highlands located around the regions between Venice and Turkey.
