    We often take for granted the Earth's natural resources that are so vital to our existence and survival. We do not seek our own water; we do not retain our own heat; we don't conduct our own electricity. All of these resources are delivered to our own homes as quietly and easily as going outside for some fresh air. But as discreetly as they arrive, they can be just as quietly consumed without knowing to what extent. Every day, the way we live affects the Earth's ecological system. So it is very important to track the amount of resources we consume. The ecological footprint is a useful way for us to know how our lifestyle affects the Earth's ecological system – a methodology used to measure the level of our consumption of natural resources and the impact of this consumption on the planet .
