Major religions include shamanism/ancestry, Confucianism, Taoism, Mahayana Buddhism, and idol worship. These five religions share certain common characteristics. For example, Chinese folk religion focuses on human beings' pursuit of health, wealth, and happiness in their lives (Corduan, 2012). Chinese folk religions want humans to succeed in their daily lives. Another key element of Chinese religions is respect for elders. Religions teach the importance of obeying the commandments of elders and honoring the family name. The Chinese also attach great importance to the temple.
