    At that time, our CEO was a man of great integrity and caring about people. Although his first priority was our patients, he also understood the importance of taking care of the employee. His philosophy was to take care of the employees and they will take care of you. Under his reign, our health system developed and acquired an excellent reputation. Everyone wanted to work for our health care system. In fact, it took me two years of updating my application and calling regularly before I landed a job. I started in the laundry room and I was so proud! Fast forward to today, I watch the system I have known, respected and loved all these years experience high turnover, dissatisfied employees, poor performance, inappropriate behavior and various inconsistencies. Why is this happening? There are many factors, but some of it is due to poor management decisions and treatment of employees. This is not about the entire organization; we have very strong leaders who care about certain areas. Why is this allowed? The political climate is not managed and bad managers are not held accountable. My employee relations team plays an important role in disciplining employees. We act as an objective third party to management and employees. In my organization, HR is just one option. For example, I was faced with a very difficult situation
