    Since the early 19th century, exercise has been a focal point for health gurus around the world. The health benefits of regular exercise are universally known. Many of these will be explored later in the paper. However, the early 1960s marked a revolutionary new era in personal fitness. This would have created an easier way to get in shape without killing yourself by constantly exercising or wasting time and money at the gym. This was of course the widespread marketing of weight loss diets. People all over the world have started deserting their local gyms because of this revolutionary new way to lose weight and get in shape. Most people didn't realize that it was possible to not only lose weight, but also burn fat simply by changing their diet. Since the commercialization of weight loss diets, there has been an ongoing debate over what type of personal fitness method is most effective. Many experts are torn between exercise and diet, and some say a combination of the two is most beneficial for health. Both diet and exercise have health benefits, many of which are the same. Regardless, the debate between the most effective form of physical activity, exercise and diet, still rages today. When talking about fitness, it is very important to discuss the benefits of regular exercise, both mental and physical.
