  • Essay / Physical, Psychosocial, and Adolescent Development...

First, cognitive development issues change in how adolescents perceive themselves, their peers/relationships, and the larger world in which they live. The important aspect that was mentioned earlier is moral development. Moral development is an adolescent's understanding of right and wrong. An example of this could be shoplifting by a peer or even a stranger and the teen reporting it to a manager. Now let's move on to Piaget's theory related to the cognitive development of adolescents. Piaget's theory was indeed linked to the cognitive development of adolescents. This connection was the impact his theory had on the education of children and on research into stimulating children's cognitive development. This is related to adolescents because of their way of thinking and the amount of secondary education they receive. Adolescents their age hypothesize or imagine their “perfect” version of the world, and that version will be completely different when they are taught different levels of secondary education. In transition, let's move on to the last point, an example. My personal example is related to my previous example. When I was about 17, I had more moral development, you could say. Therefore, I knew that smoking was bad and decided to stop doing it. In summary, cognitive development changes how adolescents perceive themselves and others.
