With Trump's decision to build a new skyscraper in Chicago, the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill had its work cut out for it. They had to design a building that met the expectations not only of Donald Trump but also of the city of Chicago. The Trump International Hotel and Tower forever changed the landscape of Chicago. The Trump Tower was the tallest building constructed in the United States since the Sears Tower also located in Chicago. This luxury building offers only the best accommodations to serve those who invest in rentals within the tower. From the building's original plan to the tower that stands today, Trump International has overcome setback after setback to realize its dream. The design, construction and dedication of Trump Tower are all key elements in making the tower dream a reality. This design received much better reviews, but the public called it "a good building rather than a great one" (Kamin). Although the building was not accepted at first, Chicagoans now accept the new building as part of their beloved Chicago skyline. After three years of construction, Trump Tower is finally officially completed and ready for use.
