    This theory of psychological motivation indicates that extrinsic motivators frequently decrease intrinsic motivation, according to its founders Edward Deci and Richard Ryan. They also argued that motivation is essential to our biological, cognitive, and social regulation. I identify with this theory because to stay focused on a task, we need intrinsic and extrinsic motivators. In human life, we cannot survive just by doing whatever we please. For example, I want to get a college degree and studying psychology, sociology, and human relations makes me very happy (intrinsic motivators). However, part of the curriculum includes inorganic chemistry and algebra, two subjects I don't like at all. However, if I want to complete the degree (extrinsic motivator), I have to endure long hours of study. Intrinsic motivation means that a person's driving forces derive from the spontaneous satisfaction that comes from the individual and the activity itself. Intrinsic motivation is important because it leads to high levels of effort, dedication, creativity and perseverance. Therefore, this type of motivation is the purest form, as it is not affected by external rewards. A person who does something because they enjoy the activity is using intrinsic motivation.
