Oscar de la Renta has lived a full life in the fashion world and continues to make a lasting impression with several brands. One of the world's most famous and recognized names in the fashion industry, de la Renta has created an empire. Best known for his elaborate gowns and attention to detail, he has a stunning line that always turns heads. Born on July 22, 1932, Oscar de la Renta grew up in the capital of the Dominican Republic. The bright colors and tropical flowers of his island childhood would later influence his fashion designs. He became interested in painting and decided to go to Spain to further develop his skills. He studied painting at the Academy of San Ferdinand in Madrid at the age of 18. Immersed in all of Spanish culture, de la Renta became interested in fashion. Shortly after, in 1950, he apprenticed with the famous Cristobal Balenciaga. He began designing for the world-renowned designer and learned the tricks of the trade by observing workshops and studying clothing and techniques. Years later, around 1960, de la Renta moved to Paris where he joined Antonio Castillo at Lanvin as a couture assistant. There he continues to draw. It is inspired by the use of feathers, jewelry and trimmings used by Castillo in couture designs. But in 1963, Oscar realized that the future of fashion lay more in ready-to-wear than in couture. So he leaves for America. He eventually continued working in custom clothing design for Elizabeth Arden. However, she allowed her name to be on the label and gained her name recognition. Two years later, the recognition is bearing fruit. In 1965, the Oscar de la Renta signature brand was created. He combines the vibrant colors of his youth with the luxurious fabrics......middle of paper......at a few thousand dollars. Her designs are elegant and use high quality exotic fabrics. Politicians like Hilary Clinton and movie stars like Kate Hudson have donned his designs. Oscar de la Renta's work will always meet the highest standards and hold a place in fashion history.
