    According to Janet Maslin, in a "New York Times" review written shortly after Blade Runner's release, "the vision of the future offered by the confusing but fascinating 'Blade Runner' Ridley Scott is as complex and detailed as anything science fiction has yet imagined” (par. 1). Although Blade Runner was not as popular upon its release as it is today, it has become a classic and acclaimed science fiction film. Based on the novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” » by Phillip K. Dick, Blade Runner is a dramatic and unique look into a dark and twisted future. Ridley Scott's haunting, futuristic thriller explores what it means to be human in a way that no other science fiction film has before. Blade Runner shows just how twisted humanity could become and questions what it means to be truly human through its disturbingly beautiful setting, gripping characters, and powerfully unique themes. In a ruined and futuristic Los Angeles, a once spectacular but now retired “blade runner”. is convinced to do one last mission; he must hunt down four artificially constructed humans, or as they are called "replicants", and kill them. While he attempts to achieve his goal, the replicants attempt to accomplish theirs, which is to find a way to extend their predetermined lifespan by four years. Many challenges arise both for the replicants, who struggle with their artificially created memories and humanity, and for the blade runner himself, Rick Deckard, who begins to struggle with the morality of his task and his strong feelings for a fifth replicant discovered. After killing three of the replicants and protecting another, Deckard finds himself in an intense confrontation with the leader of the replicants, Roy Batty.
