There was a marked difference in Bob and AL's work styles and how they handled their daily work-related problems. Bob generally paid a lot of attention to minor details of the job and provided closer supervision of subordinates. On the other hand, AL believed in delegation of work and preferred not to closely monitor the work of his subordinates if they were doing their job properly. He had a habit of neglecting rules and regulations, both for himself and others, if the job was getting done. This was a source of great frustration for Bob who believed in following rules and regulations to achieve better results. As the case indicates, when Bob found out about Al's trip to Detroit, he was very upset because he did not know that Al was there to close the deal with Delta Corp. This example shows a lack of communication between Bob and Al. I believe it is Al's responsibility to ensure that all important and critical information is known to Bob and other senior managers.
