A champion is a person who helps others and does good in the world, she is a strong and intelligent people. Juliette Gordon Low is a champion because she overcame her disability and used it to help girls everywhere. Juliette is the founder of Girl Scouts around the world. She founded Girl Scouts after permanently losing her hearing on her wedding day ("Story"). She wanted to make a difference in the lives of girls around the world. Juliette taught young women about nature, household techniques and trades. She has inspired many people over the years. It started when Juliette became bored with her life and started looking for something to do. She met the founder of the Boy Scouts and became interested in the youth movement (“Low”). His plan was to make life easier for the girls, giving them a second family to talk to and be there for them. Juliette wanted to help the girls prepare for their future. She founded the first troupe in Savannah, Georgia, in 1912 ("Low"). It started with eighteen girls, now there are over 3.7 million members worldwide (“Low”). Juliette suffered from chronic ear diseases all her life. On her wedding day, a piece of lucky rice got lodged in her ear, causing her eardrum to burst ("Story"). After losing her hearing, she realized that many other people with disabilities might need a friend. She made sure that anyone who wanted to join the group was allowed, regardless of their background. Juliette made sure to particularly include girls with disabilities as they were often excluded from social events at that time (“History”). She had her own way of making sure no girl was ever left behind. The main goal of creating the troupes was to teach girls how to gain confidence and be resourceful. The girls would go camping, learning to find their own way and find food and other resources. There, the girls learned to believe in themselves and gain the confidence to do anything they wanted.
