Essay / Education - a money making business
As a kid finishing his last year in college, I have a pretty unique curiosity about education that I think we all hesitate about express. The world has quite a stake in it, mainly because it is education that is supposed to take us captive into this future we cannot grasp. If you think about it, the children who start school this year will retire in 2075. No one knows, despite all the prowess demonstrated in recent decades, what the globe will look like in five years. Yet we are supposed to educate children in this way. The unpredictability is therefore extraordinary. However, we all agree on the truly prodigious abilities of children, their capacity for innovation. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? Get the original essay My point is that all children have enormous talents and all we do is dissipate them, without remorse. My argument is that creativity is now as important in education as literacy, and that we should give it the same status. Children will take a chance and if they don't know it, they will take a chance. They are not afraid to make mistakes. I don't mean to say that being wrong is the same as being creative. What we do know is that if you're not willing to make a mistake, you'll never think of something original, and by the time they're adults, most kids have left their talent get lost. They are afraid of making mistakes and we run our businesses that way by condemning mistakes. We now run national education systems in which mistakes are the worst thing you can do. The result is that we educate people based on their creative abilities. I believe we don't grow in creativity, we grow out of it. Instead, we are informed if this is the case. At the top are mathematics and languages, then the humanities and at the bottom the arts. In schools, art and music normally enjoy a higher status than drama and dance. There is no educational system on the planet that teaches children dance every day in the same way we teach them math. Mathematics is very important, but so is dancing. Kids dance all the time if they're allowed to, we all do. Truly, what happens is that as children grow, we start training them gradually from the waist up and then we focus on their heads, that too, slightly to one side. If you were to visit education, as an extraterrestrial, and say "What is public education for?" » I think we should conclude, if you look at it, who is really succeeding because of this, who is doing everything they should, who is getting all the pearl and brownie points and who are the winners. I think we would have to conclude that the very purpose of public education throughout the world is to produce university professors, accountants and of course doctors and engineers. Here in India, for the majority of backward parents, if you have not completed B.Tech, MBBS or MBA courses, you have failed both in your family and in your life. I am lucky to come from a minority of parents, those with an open mind who let their own children chart their own path. Our education system is built on the notion of academic ability and there is a reason for that, they say. Initially, there was no real system of public education until the 19th century, which was also created to meet the needs of industrialism. The hierarchy is based on two ideas:.
