  • Essay / Pornography is Immoral - 1051

In recent years, the term pornography has been primarily associated with what is viewed and streamed on the Internet, rather than the literal definition of "writings, drawings, photographs or other obscene.” , especially those that have little or no artistic value. This form of visual pornography is a popular and thriving activity because it is seen as satisfying pent-up sexual desires, but it promotes having multiple sexual partners without any commitment. Although this is why this activity is permitted, many overlooked long-term effects have become areas of controversy. Not only does pornography affect those who engage in it, but it can also influence those who disclose it, especially those who have access to it from a young age. Thus, I believe that pornography is immoral because it negatively influences opinions regarding sex, it promotes more sexual violence, and it creates difficulty in leading a normal life for those who work in the porn industry. In our rapidly changing society, many of our socially accepted norms and rules are challenged and transgressed over the years. Examples range from the concept of same-sex relationships to the legalization of marijuana. Although frowned upon a few years ago, today we see these barriers being broken and socially accepted norms being changed. However, these barriers were not destroyed randomly, but came from exposure to the previously frowned upon act or substance. Similar to the examples above, with the increasing exposure to and easy access to pornography, the socially accepted norm that associates with the sexual act is changing. Although changes are occurring...... middle of paper ...... It has the power to negatively influence opinions regarding sex, promote more violence and violent acts, and this creates difficulties in the lifestyle of those in the porn industry. Due to this power causing harm and problems to society, I believe that pornography is immoral at the point where it is today, and that the situation should be approached and handled with more appropriate concerns.
