Essay / Peer Review - 711
Peer review is one of the important elements for academic sources. According to Lunsford (2013), peer review helps the writer see what they have written from other points of view and what the strengths and weaknesses of their paper are. To do this, this article will examine the partner's paragraph that the partner composed when assigning the paragraph. The rhetorical situation of the paragraph is that she will be giving a presentation to a small class of HSC History Extension students at her old high school. The purpose of this paragraph is to help the audience understand what postmodernism is, because postmodernism is a complex and indefinable ideology and difficult for most people to understand. First, this article will show the partner paragraph. Second, this article will examine the paragraph and offer feedback by considering style and structure, use of rhetorical appeals, incorporation of research, grammar and punctuation, tone and voice, word choice , including the use of jargon and definitions, as well as flow and transition. In conclusion, this article will reflect how this article applied style and method to the rhetorical situation of a peer review, the strategies, techniques, and sources used by this article to provide feedback to the partner, and the experience of the peer review process. It is easy to understand what the paragraph is saying even if I am not the intended audience because of the effective word choice and method of integrating research. For example, the writer avoids using jargon because the rhetorical situation is that she is giving a presentation and the audience does not know much about a special word. Additionally, the method of incorporating research is credible since it uses books that are widely used and popular among HSC History Extension students to improve one's workplace......revisit paragraph, it was easy to give some examples by referring to numbered sentences. In addition, this article used some sources related to academic literature and widely used in this field so that the journal increases its own credibility. After completing this assignment, I learned that credibility plays an important role in editing because the editing needs to be compelling in explaining how the paragraph could be better for the writer. Credibility is necessary not only for editing, but also for rhetoric, because the communicator must illustrate the text for the audience in rhetorical situations.
