Character Analysis of Mad Lady Macbeth Throughout the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, observers view Macbeth as a ruthless and cold-blooded killer. After reading and watching Shakespeare's play, people might argue that Macbeth is the most ruthless and wicked character in the play. Macbeth is not the most ruthless or evil in the play. In reality, Macbeth's wife, Lady Macbeth, is actually the most ruthless and wicked character that Shakespeare decided to write about in the play Macbeth. Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth's character has changed and she becomes the instigator of the rise and fall of Macbeth's rule over Scotland. Lady Macbeth can be considered the main cause of the murder of King Duncan and Lady Macbeth is the most evil character in the play. Even though Lady Macbeth is not the main character, she is one of the most important. Shakespeare's character, Lady Macbeth, seems to be one of the scariest among most female characters. When Lady Macbeth first appears at the beginning of the play, she is planning the perfect way to murder King Duncan. After reading her husband's letter, she realizes that she may have to force her husband to commit murder to become the new king of Scotland. She practically prays that she won't have sex and won't feel any remorse for the murder that's about to happen. The quote: “The raven itself is hoarse, it croaks Duncan's fatal entrance beneath my battlements. Come, you spirits who occupy yourselves with mortal thoughts, desex me here and fill me with the crown to the height of the most terrible cruelty. Make my blood thick.
