Marriage is a celebration that has varied practices and traditions among cultures around the world. Religions like Hinduism, Romani, Taoism, and Mormonism all have similarities when bringing two people together. Like how couples meet and certain traditions that should take place during wedding ceremonies. But they also have immense differences, like how they celebrate weddings and what marriage symbolizes, why they get married. In Hinduism, the typical way to find a partner is through arranged marriages. An arranged marriage is a marriage planned and agreed to by the families or parents of the bride and groom, who usually have little or no say in the matter. There are two types of arranged marriages: traditional and forced. A traditional arranged marriage occurs when parents choose the future spouse of their daughter(s). If the son or daughter refuses this choice, the parents tend to respect their wishes and will find someone else. In an arranged and forced marriage, parents do not allow the future bride and groom to have a say in the choice of their spouse. These marriages are usually arranged by matchmakers, who are usually a family friend or distant relative. As a scout and negotiator, a family sends the matchmaker out into the community to search for possible matches. Once a match is found, the matchmaker notifies his clients and arranges communication through them. When the two families communicate, they set a time and place to meet to discuss the dowry, time and place of marriage. The two families attend the first meeting of the bride and groom. Meanwhile, the males of the families gather in the center of the room, while the couple sits on the outskirts of the room and exchange glances. If the...... middle of paper...... Marriage has many traditions and cultural celebrations around the world. Religions like Hinduism, Romani, Taoism, and Mormonism all have similarities when bringing two people together. They all hire matchmakers to match their children with the right spouse. But they have various differences, such as the meaning of marriage for each religion. In the Hindu and Roma religion, marriage is an alliance between two families rather than a union between two individuals. In a traditional Chinese marriage, they marry according to their social status and to please their parents. And in Mormonism, they marry in polygamous type marriages because of the benefits that will result for all partners if they do so.
