As a veteran competitive cheerleader and national champion title holder, I take the sport of cheerleading very seriously. Completely opposite of my personal opinions, Louisiana Sports Gym, a local recreational cheerleading competition venue, makes it a complete and utter joke. Competitive cheerleading is almost never recognized as a legal sport in Louisiana and LA Sports adds a few reasons why. When a competitive gym pops up in a rural town like Houma, it takes a lot of effort and dedication for the business to succeed. Louisiana Sports Gym aims to be unique and unlike any other facility in the area. Unfortunately, this is an inconvenience and will ultimately ruin the business and quite possibly the sport of the locals participating in it. This activity is not only a waste of space, but also a poor excuse for an organization. The gym management lacks pride and is noticed throughout the gym. The lack of responsibility and dignity is reflected in building maintenance, financial turnover, lack of space and employee morale. As I pulled into the small parking lot of the Louisiana Sports Gym, I noticed a small building resembling a machine shop surrounded by overgrown grass and abandoned lots. My first impression of the exterior made me fear the debris I would soon find inside. I took my first steps into the building and noticed a small entrance hall unsuitable for the crowd that occupied it. There was a small black couch, two dining-style chairs, and a rocking chair awkwardly arranged near two overpriced vending machines. There were dark, brown dirt stains standing out on what were supposed to be plain beige walls. The hall had a small desk filled......middle of paper......their technique and panic during the activity and could potentially injure themselves. “This has happened three times in the last week,” says one worker. Most of the teachers did a great job of managing their restricted area by being aware of their surroundings and acting accordingly, but there was one who didn't care. This worker, similar to the lady in the lobby, saw three children get injured under her watch and they had to be rushed to the emergency room. Louisiana Sports Gym is absolutely negligent when it comes to student safety, financial improvement and building maintenance. which will ultimately ruin this company and bury it under its competitors. LA Sports Gym should be boycotted by the cheerleading population because your motivation will be discouraged and your cheerleading career will only lead to a negative outcome..
