Essay / Advertising Analysis of Lionel Messi - 1284
In many advertisements or even in images in general, there is a part called "white space". White space is defined as the part of an image where there is nothing. No part of the image, no element, and can be used to help the audience focus more on the given image or text. However, in this case with Adidas, there is no white space available, as all the space is used to create or place images. This highlights the fact that the entire picture is a collective whole and must be viewed in a complete sense. When looking at the portrait layout, there are both text and image elements. The text is respectively quite large on the image, because half is covered by the text. The text conveys the message, and the image is there for a supporting role, and is done very effectively. The text is even bold, creating a highlighted element in the image, thus amplifying the importance of the text in the image. Without it, the image would simply be that of Messi running around a stadium without context. It would be much more difficult to grasp the concept or message of the ad without the context of football or soccer.
