There is always a new theory, a new experiment or a new work that can prove a new position. Over time, knowledge can sometimes be discarded. But what is knowledge? And what types of factors can influence it and lead to its rejection? Knowledge is concept-centered information that conveys a message and can be acquired through learning or memory. Many different factors can have an effect on whether a person accepts information as knowledge or knowledge. The biggest impacts are prejudice. Some are not able to detect their own personal biases, which are influenced by culture, gender, race, religion, etc., and therefore may reject knowledge based on their experiences. Which brings me to another factor: experience is what can change a connoisseur's mind. This can influence him or her to accept information or not. Acceptance has a different connotation than it used to; Just because you accept something doesn’t mean you believe it. For example, I accept that many cultures around the world believe in arranged marriages; however, I do not consider this to be an ethical act. Overall, perception can still be influenced. Today I say that being forced into marriage is wrong; the next day I could do the same thing with my own child. The fact is that no one will ever be able to say what they consider knowledge. In this essay, the two areas of knowledge that I will focus on, in keeping with the quote “What is accepted as knowledge today is sometimes rejected tomorrow,” are history and the humanities. When first reading this quote, the first idea that came to mind was about historical facts and the great impact that the past can have on the future. Everyday life influences can affect a person's perception. As I have learned throughout my life, perception is everything. Sometimes it's not obvious that something or someone is judged based on how each person perceives the other, but it has an impact. Experiences also play a role in perception, as people tend to generalize knowledge they have gained through learning or past encounters that they remember vividly. Works Cited Bastian, Sue.
