Reflections on the concept of national cinema and Chinese film The Dream FactorySince the commercialization of the Chinese film market in 1997, The Dream Factory (1997) directed by Xiaogang,Feng has established itself as the first commercial film in China (mainland China) after years of previously censored propaganda film (this refers to films that were permitted to be shown during the period of the Great Cultural Revolution). From these elements, we can see the Chinese identity without comparison with other cinemas ( the role of the state in film production) and these cultural elements, The Dream Factory could rely on its own and not colonized by Hollywood or other blockbusters.ConclusionThis essay briefly presents the model suggested by Andrew Higson on the. concept of national cinema It proposes three methods to examine a specific film and check if it is a national cinema: examine the production, the distribution, the exhibition and the audience, apart from these, Higson suggested two other methods, comparing with other cinema and relating cinema to a certain political, economic and cultural identity of a certain state..
