The purpose of this article is to discuss the practical experience of a principal at his college regarding his observations and opinions of his student population. The target population consists of middle school students (children) who have been exposed to and/or involved in sexual behavior among minors, and/or students exposed to sexual content in the media and social networks. The results of this interview are compared to our theoretical learning from our textbook. After attending UCLA and the University of Nairobi in Kenya, Bruce Baron, principal of Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), South Lake Middle School , received his bachelor's degree from UCI. Mr. Baron began his career in the 1970s with the National Teacher Corps program, then taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and served as principal of elementary and middle schools in public institutions. In addition to working at the school level, he has been actively engaged in multicultural education and has acted as a consultant to address and alleviate inter-ethnic tensions that exist in secondary schools. His work has been recognized by the Orange County Human Relations Commission. He currently also teaches social studies and history to graduate students in the UCI Department of Education. This is because of his vast experience and exceptional ...... middle of paper ...... desperation. Although Mr. Baron said that this specific population we were talking about only makes up about 10% of his students, that 10% is still a much higher number than I expected. I found Mr. Baron to be extremely empathetic to the lives of his students and their families, and keenly aware of the statistics of sexual offenses committed by minors. He was also very knowledgeable about his duties and responsibilities towards offenders and victims, as well as when to defer to them. He demonstrated the utmost professionalism during our interview and was diligent in answering each of my questions until I had exhausted my time. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to share some of his precious time.ReferencesTerry, KJ (2013). Sex Offenses and Offenders: Theory, Practice and Policy.
