The 1950s in America were a peaceful time; Five years after winning World War II, America has established itself as a powerful country. The company was optimistic; soldiers were returning from war to start their new jobs, families were getting new homes, and the baby boom was about to begin. American industries grew and people began to obtain products that were not available during the war. Televisions were entering family homes and becoming a staple in America. Coca-Cola was in the golden age of its product. With the growth of televisions in homes, Coca-Cola began making advertisements promoting relaxation and comfort in front of the television, on billboards and in magazines that appealed to America. Even though America had recently emerged from the war, it was heading into another war called the Cold War against the Soviet Union, which lasted until the late 1980s. The 1950s were a feel-good era in America and there are many reasons why it included Coca-Cola, sports and breaking down racial barriers. Coca-Cola has always been popular in America and in the 1950s; it became the main soda drink in the 1950s and also the golden age of the product. A glass of Coca-Cola only cost five cents. Soda was a status symbol. If you want to be refreshed and satisfied, then you must drink Coca-Cola. Celebrities, actors, athletes, workers, children and even Santa Claus had to have Coca-Cola on hand. With the boom of television in homes, Coca-Cola became more popular due to advertisements that spoke of relaxation and comfort with the soda in hand.
