Essay / Jacques Cartier - 1261
Jacques Cartier was a well-known British explorer born in the French seaport of Saint-Malo. There weren't many records of Cartier's early life before he made his great discoveries. He is one of the most respected sailors and navigators of his time, his voyages have marked the world. Jacques Cartier made three main voyages. During each of these journeys, he discovered something new that benefited the world around him during his lifetime. Jacques Cartier left his mark on the world during his lifetime, but what did Cartier's voyages of discovery bring to the world we live in today? There is very little information about the early life of Jacques Cartier, he was born in Saint-Marlo in December. 31, 1491, which is located near the lower end of the English Channel. In this small canal lived centuries of adventurous sailors and fishermen who left their mark on the world. Saint-Marlo became famous well before the birth of Cartier; the town became famous as the headquarters of the consairs of the north coast. Jacques Cartier's family dates back to the 15th century, to his grandfather Jean Cartier. Little has been explained about Cartier's immediate family; Cartier is the second child out of five. Jacques Cartier was born into a family of sailors, but he acquired social status by marrying Catherine des Granches whose family, owners of a large shipping company, the couple never had any known children. As little is known about Jacques Cartier, not much is known about his early studies. Documents prove that Cartier was well educated in cartography, navigation, astronomy, mathematics and seamanship in his early days, which he is in the middle of paper. ......
