British inventor William Friese-Greene came up with the idea of making 3D movies after creating projection devices. He was a portrait photographer but became totally interested and fascinated by the movement of images. During the 1880s, Greene made a camera with the help of Mortimer Evans. He was very pleased with the camera and decided to continue his experiments until he found cinematic equipment and, soon after, he created the stereoscope, an optical instrument that blends two slightly different images of the same object to give an effect of depth, which was the beginning of 3D films.
