Essay / Media Influence - 1476
The media is a dynamic force, whose approach and structure are constantly changing in order to keep up with the demands of society. Today's society relies heavily on media input to inform thoughts and feelings as well as accepted beliefs within our society. Media has evolved from the simplistic industry of the 14th century to the multi-billion dollar industry of today, where technology has enabled this development. Today's media is more influential and powerful than ever, it has the power to divide or unite individuals on any given topic in which individuals engage. In addition, celebrities have become a key element and product of the sector. The ideal and definition of a celebrity has changed over the decades to become a more powerful and influential figure. The media is undoubtedly a source of influence in today's society. The technologically advanced society prompts greater attention to the media as examples of acceptable conduct or attitudes, as well as an outlet for important current affairs in society. Traditionally, the development of media began in the 15th century, with the successful creation of the printing press, which made it possible to disseminate information in society through written form. (Van Krieken 2013)This media origin was not a competitive or overly influential source, during its years of development. The media was more of a source of information about world news, such as the deaths of influential people or famous people, as well as outbreaks of wars and issues surrounding these conflicts at the international and national level (Van Krieken 2013). Thus, it was not until the mid-17th and 18th centuries that media in particular, newspapers, found their context in society and once established they were able to diversify knowing that they had stable roots... middle of paper... ...and their confidence to use the products they use or trust. This thus forges a relationship between celebrity and fan mediated by the media. This has thus changed the historical perspective of influential and influential personalities making significant contributions towards achieving fame. Nowadays, fame is not always directly linked to success (Turner 2013) and so can simply "know to be famous" become a product of media and pop culture that sell us the idea of a celebrity. To conclude, media and pop culture and both social structures are subject to change over time in accordance with society. Celebrities have become prominent figures in a society whose definitions have evolved over time. Just as media has changed its structure to become more of a practice, the forms and influence of technology have fostered media change..
