    In Dearington, Mr. R implemented three practices to make effective leaders in his school. The first is the “FINS” program, which aims to strengthen growing leaders within its schools. Second, there is a practice supporting positive behavioral interventions, “scale management.” The practice involves moving dolphins up and down on a stick based on their behavior. The idea behind this practice is that negative behavior does not determine the rest of one's day. Finally, the practice of teachers recognizing other teachers with a wall of fame in the staff room. People need to be recognized and have their contributions recognized (Blackaby & Blackaby, 2011). When training future leaders and helping them become effective, Mr. R focuses on feedback and modeling. He gives constructive criticism by giving “grows and shines,” not only when an evaluation is given, but every time he spends significant time in that leader’s class. People want their leaders to be both honest and respectful (Northouse, 2012). Mr. R allows his school to be a “teaching school.” Strong in his belief that “people need experience to be exceptional”, he opens his school to internship students and interns so that they can do their hours; “They will learn from our example.” This approach is difficult, but “leadership happens when you move people from where they are to where they should be,” making it a valuable practice (Blackaby & Blackaby,
