Complications of obesity can include cardiovascular disease, low self-esteem, hypertension, respiratory problems and gastrointestinal problems. If obesity is not managed during childhood, it leads to negative health consequences in adulthood. In terms of the cardiovascular system, many obese children suffer from hypertension, coronary heart disease and dyslipidemia. Obesity leads to increased blood volume and cardiac output. This leads to cardiovascular problems. Obese children are at greater risk of musculoskeletal problems. Obese children are more likely to suffer from fractures, mobility problems and musculoskeletal discomfort. This may be due to a lack of physical activity. Obese children have difficulty breathing when walking. If they walk for just 5 minutes, they feel tired and out of breath. The prevalence of asthma is higher in overweight children.
