With the emergence of diseases, for example HIV, it is no wonder that many choose not to receive education , even if it is available. Those affected by HIV and similar illnesses face high treatment costs, if treatment is accessible, and face enormous discrimination. No less than 17 million young people are currently living with HIV, which represents ⅓ of the total HIV-positive population. The discrimination and enormous costs these young people face will prevent the majority of them from receiving an adequate education, let alone employment opportunities. If they cannot receive adequate education, they are also much more likely to spread communicable diseases because they simply will not learn how to prevent them.
