Neukom Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science and Technology and is also director of Stanford's LLM in Law, Science and Technology program. Lemley is also the author of seven books and 133 articles. David S. Levine, the second author listed on this article, is an associate professor of law at Elon University Law School and an affiliate of the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School. David G. Post, the article's third author, teaches intellectual property law and cyber law at Temple University. All three, esteemed and respected in their fields of study, combined their efforts to write an article describing the dangers of Internet censorship laws like SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) of 2011 which stands for Preventing Real Online. Law on Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property. Both laws aim to attack the technical infrastructure of the Internet for those who infringe on copyrights and trademarks. The roots of this law are intended to treat those who use the Internet as criminals, making the user guilty until proven innocent. This type of control would be very detrimental to the ability to share with sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Tumblr. name a few.
