Essay / LGBT Adoption - 689
Does being adopted by an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) couple affect a child's thought process/decisions? Considering the fact that there is no reliable evidence that homosexual orientation impairs psychological functioning and that growing up in a gay couple's home will not "make" a child gay, it is clear that a child is more affected by interaction with their parents and negative public reactions to the family itself, than by their parents' sexual orientations. The reality that gay people are fully capable of adopting children can be difficult for some people to accept. But if adoption agencies were prejudiced and ignorant and denied adoption to LGBT couples, it would be denying an orphan or foster child the right to happiness and to be loved and taken care of by a good family. It is stated in the Declaration of Independence that everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, these rights cannot be taken away from a person. Every child deserves to live a full, happy life and be raised by loving, caring parents, regardless of their sexual orientation. There is a shortage of adoptive parents for children who are not infants; more people would like to raise a child from start to finish, not where someone else left them. It is better to place an orphaned or foster child who is not an infant with a family, whether gay or straight, than not to be placed there at all. Studies show that approximately two million LGBT couples and singles are interested in adopting an orphan or fostering. child, and nearly 40% of all agencies and 83% of public agencies reported having made at least one adoption placement with a lesbian or gay man. But a third of agen...... middle of paper ...... everyone sins, everyone has committed treason against God. Nobody is perfect and everyone is equal. No more, no less, of a human being. We are all the same, all equally creations of God, no one person is better than another. As stated in Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” » This means that we are all the same, we all come together, regardless of our sexual orientation.
