Essay / Preaching is the word of God - 1284
What is preaching? Although Christianity has many definitions of preaching, to be effective, one must come to a consensus on what true preaching actually is. “Preaching is a divine activity in which the word of God is proclaimed or announced on contemporary issues and an ultimate response to our God. » Simply, preaching is the word of God delivered through the language of the daily life experiences of the members of the congregation. There are many misconceptions that preaching is simply the unfolding of Scripture. Personally, this misunderstanding could be explained by an exegetical reading of Scripture. The task of preaching is more than just reading Scripture and explaining the message of Scripture. It must be transformed into a word of life, because the preaching must include the contemporary problems that torment the lives of those who hear it. We must first understand that this is a divine activity. Preaching is the holy, inspired word of God, delivered by the preacher himself, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. We wonder how we can say that a word belongs to God without it being spoken by God himself. It is important that publishers understand that it is God who acts, not ourselves. Often preachers approach the sacred pulpit and begin to speak words of their own that are not inspired by God. Preaching to oneself is dull and meaningless. It is only with God that all divine activity is possible. We can study, pray, prepare, and preach, but it is God working on our behalf that makes preaching effective. When preaching, we must stand up and proclaim the word of God. The task of proclamation is "God alone, rather than humans and the human voice, is the primary factor, because God alone... middle of paper... everyone, but this is done through the word of God." . Very often, preachers continually try to get answers to sermons on their own. There are no words that a human being can utter that deserve a response from God's people. It is the work of God through the Holy Spirit who acts on behalf of the preacher to move into the heart of the hearer to invoke a response to the word of God. In conclusion, “Preaching is a divine activity in which the word of God is proclaimed or announced on contemporary issues for an ultimate response to our God. It is the seriousness of preaching that goes out among God's people, to invoke a call for response to the good news of God. Understanding the meaning and task of preaching enables one to be used as an instrument that God uses to bring about change in the lives of his people. God does the work, not my own works.
