In a study conducted by Jonathan Scott and Alison Armstrong, they investigated the positive and negative social impacts of gaming. The study found that MMORPG players maintained more online friendships and had a better experience entertainment and gaming than could be found in the real world. While this may be true, it is easier to make friends online than in the real world, I think users are still distracted from real world opportunities and are slowly withdrawing from real life roles and learning social skills of basis with real-world people.
